September 1966 – Jane Asher as Perdita in ‘The Winter’s Tale’.
Jane portrayed Perdita in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale at the Edinburgh Festival in August 1966 and followed that with a critically acclaimed run in London’s West End at the Cambridge Theatre starting on Sept. 30, 1966. During November 1966 The Winter’s Tale was filmed for the cinema – but it was never theatrically released. In 1968 it was finally released by Warner Bros. and screened in private venues such as college campus theaters.

This picture is from 1964, and she is wearing the same clothes that she wore on a visit to Twickenham studios where The Beatles were filming ‘A Hard Days’s Night’, on April 3rd 1964. Dick Van Dyke and his wife Margie were also there.

Happy Birthday Jane Asher, April 5th 1946.
“Of all the things I do, acting is the thing that grabs the most, but there’s another level on which it strikes me as being a little silly. In the end you’re dressing up and deciding to be somebody.”
